Jet lag massage Saigon: what a session at Tong Gia feels like

Ngón cái ấn lần lượt điểm gáy, sau tai, chân tóc; tay kia giữ đầu tại Huyệt Đạo Tống Gia

A jet lag massage in Saigon at Tong Gia means a traditional Vietnamese massage at 225 Duong Thi Muoi Street, District 12 (open 8:00 to 20:00) or Unit T16-21, The Manhattan, Vinhomes Grand Park, Thu Duc City (open 9:00 to 20:00), every day. It costs 450,000 VND (about $17) for 60 minutes or 550,000 VND (about $21) for 90 minutes, and this guide follows one arrival-day session from the hotel door to an early local bedtime.

After several time zones, the neck is stiff, the feet feel puffy and the head drifts between awake and half asleep. Knowing what to expect makes the hour easier to enjoy.

Before you leave the hotel

A late-afternoon session gives you a reason not to nap at 15:00. Send a WhatsApp or Zalo message to +84 888 264 559 with the branch, the session and the time; booking from the airport or a day before the flight both work.

Work back from closing time. Both branches close at 20:00, so start a 60-minute session by about 18:45, a 90-minute one by about 18:15, and the 120-minute full body session by about 17:45.

Shower, drink water and eat something small rather than nothing or a full meal. If you feel feverish, dizzy or simply unwell after the flight, skip the massage, rest, and see a licensed physician if it does not pass.

On the bed: the first quiet minutes

The session starts with looking, not pressing. Your practitioner checks your complexion, whether one shoulder rides higher and how your spine sits. This is the observation habit of founder Lương Y Tống Văn Huynh, a traditional Vietnamese wellness master with more than 13 years in the craft, and it only decides where the time should go.

Then fingers run slowly down both sides of your spine. The stiff neck often turns out to have company between the shoulder blades and just above the waist.

The neck: where a long flight shows first

If you slept with your head against the window or bobbing forward, the neck gets the most attention. In the photo, one thumb works point by point along the back of the neck, behind the ear and along the hairline while the other hand holds the head still. Expect a deep, dull ache that fades as you breathe out, and sometimes a feeling of warmth spreading up toward the scalp.

This is also the moment many guests start to drift. A heavy, sleepy feeling is normal; you can let it come, and the practitioner will carry on.

Back, hips and legs

The lower back usually feels firm and slightly sore to the touch after a long haul. Pressure there is slower and broader, with the heel of the hand or both palms. On the legs, kneading moves up from the calves; if your ankles swelled on the plane, the calves may feel tight and tender at first, then lighter.

You will be asked about pressure throughout. “Lighter” or “stronger” is enough, and a raised hand works too. Sharp or burning pain is not part of it: say so at once.

The finish: warmth, then feet in water

A warm herbal compress is laid over the worked areas, followed by a foot soak. The heat feels heavy and calming, and warm water on feet that sat in shoes all day is simply pleasant. Sit up slowly before you stand.

After the session

Go for a short walk in the evening air, eat a light local dinner and aim for bed around your usual time, Saigon clock. Drink water. Mild tenderness in the neck or back the next morning is common and fades on its own.

FAQ

Will a massage fix my jet lag? No massage resets your body clock. What it can do is ease the stiffness of a long flight and give you a relaxed, wakeful afternoon before an early local bedtime.

Is it okay if I fall asleep during the session? Yes. Many travellers doze off during the neck work. The practitioner simply continues, and you can wake up at the compress.

What is the latest time I can start on arrival day? Both branches close at 20:00: start 60 minutes by about 18:45, 90 minutes by about 18:15, or the 120-minute full body session by about 17:45.

Can I add herbal steam? Yes, herbal steam is 120,000 VND (about $5). Mention it when you book so there is time for it before closing.
