Standing all day, sitting all day or working long shifts all leave a different kind of tiredness: hot, sore feet, tight calves, a stiff lower back, shoulders lifted towards the ears. At Tong Gia, a full body massage starts by finding where you are heaviest, so the practitioner can spend the time where it matters.
Prices
- Eastern (Vietnamese) massage: 450,000 VND for 60 minutes (about $17) or 550,000 VND for 90 minutes (about $21).
- Full body care: 950,000 VND for 120 minutes (about $37).
Tiredness spread from the legs up to the back suits the 90-minute massage; all-over fatigue after a long shift suits the 120-minute full body care. All prices are on the prices page.
How the session works
- A quick chat about your work and where you feel worst.
- Warming the back and legs with broad strokes.
- Deeper work on the heaviest area: pressing, kneading, forearm strokes along the back and calf squeezes along the muscle fibres.
- Acupressure by area, using the spinal-reflex balancing method that Lương Y Tống Văn Huynh uses to train every practitioner, because the lower back and the legs are closely linked.
- A few minutes of rest and warm water before you stand up.
Keep the pressure moderate: moderate means you can still breathe evenly. If any spot feels too strong, say so straight away.
When to skip it
If pain lasts a long time, one leg is swollen and warm, numbness runs down to the foot, veins bulge a lot or pain gets worse at night, see a licensed physician first. Avoid massage with a fever, right after a big meal or over an open wound.
