Acupressure for sleep in Saigon: a slower way to wind down

A relaxing massage for better sleep is not a sleeping pill and makes no promises, but an hour of slow, steady pressure is a calm way to end the day. The aim is to help your body shift down a gear: softer breathing, looser neck and shoulders, a quieter head.

If poor sleep goes on for weeks, or comes with other worries, please see a licensed physician. Our sessions are for relaxation alongside good sleep habits.

How a relaxing massage for better sleep works at Tong Gia

Each session follows the method of founder Lương Y Tống Văn Huynh, a traditional Vietnamese wellness master:

  1. Observation. The practitioner notices your complexion, posture and how high your shoulders sit.
  2. Spine check. Hands trace along the spine to find tight, guarded spots.
  3. Gentle acupressure and kneading. For guests who come to unwind, the pace is slower and the pressure even. Time is spent on the neck, the base of the skull, the temples and the scalp, places many people hold tension without noticing.
  4. Warm herbal compress and foot soak. Warmth on the back and warm water for the feet make a calm finish.

Tell the practitioner if you want lighter pressure; they ask throughout. If you drift off on the table, that is fine.

Three self-acupressure points to try at home

These are simple relaxation habits you can do in bed or on the sofa. Press gently with a thumb or fingertip for about a minute on each side while breathing slowly. They are not a substitute for professional advice.

  • Shenmen (HT7): on the inner wrist crease, on the little-finger side, in the small hollow next to the tendon. Press lightly and breathe out slowly.
  • Neiguan (PC6): on the inner forearm, three finger-widths above the wrist crease, between the two central tendons. Use a soft, steady press here.
  • Taichong (LR3): on the top of the foot, in the hollow between the big toe and second toe bones, just before they meet.

Stop if any point feels painful, and keep pressure light if you are pregnant or have any health condition; check with a licensed physician if unsure.
