For a massage after running in Thu Duc, go to Tong Gia’s Vinhomes Grand Park branch at Unit T16-21, The Manhattan, Long Binh Ward, Thu Duc City, open 9:00 to 20:00 every day. The usual runner’s choice is the 60-minute lower-back session at 550,000 VND (about $21) plus a 30-minute add-on for calves and thighs at 199,000 VND (about $8), and below is what that hour and a half feels like on the bed.

Which session fits which kind of run is covered on our sports recovery massage page; this guide is about the session itself.

From the last kilometre to the door

The branch sits inside The Manhattan zone, so a loop through Vinhomes Grand Park can end a short walk away. Runners from Long Binh, Long Thanh My or elsewhere in Thu Duc can pin it on Google Maps, where it holds 5.0★ from 208 reviews; the Vinhomes Grand Park page has the branch details.

Give yourself an hour or two after the run. Cool down, drink water, eat something light and shower. Dawn runners will find the 9:00 opening fits that gap neatly. Evening runners should start by about 18:45 for a 60-minute session, 18:15 for 90 minutes, since the branch closes at 20:00.

Book on WhatsApp or Zalo at +84 888 264 559 with the session, the add-on and the time you expect to finish running.

Standing up first: how your run shows

Before you lie down, the practitioner looks at how you stand. Runners often show a small tilt: one hip lower, shoulders drawn forward from the last tired kilometres. This observation step comes from founder Lương Y Tống Văn Huynh, a traditional Vietnamese wellness master with more than 13 years in the craft. It is a guide for where to spend time, not an assessment of your body.

Lying face down, you feel fingers travel down both sides of the spine. After a long run, the band of muscle just above the waist is often the first spot that answers with a dull ache.

The lower back: slow and broad

Most of the main hour goes here. Thumbs settle on points beside the spine, then the work widens: palms, the heel of the hand and, as in the photo, a forearm pressed slowly along the back. Forearm pressure feels wide and heavy rather than pointed, a little like leaning into a foam roller that is paying attention.

The practitioner keeps asking about pressure. Firm is fine, but it should never turn sharp. Say “lighter” or raise a hand whenever you like.

The add-on: calves and thighs

Then the 30 minutes for the legs. Kneading starts at the calves and works up toward the hamstrings and the front of the thighs. Calves after a hard run can be surprisingly tender at first touch; that tenderness usually eases within a few strokes as the muscle softens.

If something hurts in a specific, sharp way, such as a pulled muscle, swelling, or pain when you walk, the massage is not the right first step. Stop, and see a licensed physician before booking again.

Warmth to close

A warm herbal compress goes over the worked areas, and your feet go into a warm soak. Sit up slowly, drink water, and stand only when you feel steady.

The next day

Expect light soreness where the work was deepest, much like the day after a long run, fading within a day or so. An easy jog or a walk is fine; save hard intervals for another day.
